Abstract

Background and Aims: Implementing good governance principles in educational institution administration by adapting them to the institution's context will lead to effective and efficient administration. This research aimed to 1) study the administration based on good governance principles; 2) study the effectiveness of administration based on good governance principles; 3) study the relationship between administration based on good governance principles and the effectiveness of educational institution administration; and 4) study the effect of administration based on good governance principles on the effectiveness of administration of small basic education institutions as perceived by teachers under the Surin Primary Educational Service Area Office 3.

Methodology: This research was a survey. The sample consisted of 222 teachers in small educational institutions under the Surin Primary Educational Service Area Office 3. The results were obtained using the Krejci and Morgan table and stratified proportional random sampling. The instrument used was a rating scale questionnaire with a reliability value of 0.973. The statistics used included percentages, means, standard deviations, and Pearson’s product-moment correlation coefficients. The study also employed stepwise multiple regression analysis.

Results: 1) Good governance administration of small basic education institutions, as perceived by teachers, was at the highest level overall. 2) The effectiveness of good governance administration of small basic education institutions, as perceived by teachers, was at the highest level overall. 3) The relationship between good governance administration and the effectiveness of small basic education institutions, as perceived by teachers, was positively correlated at a high level of 0.78 with statistical significance at the .01 level. 4) Good governance administration that affected the effectiveness of small basic education institutions, as perceived by teachers, included morality, effectiveness, cost-effectiveness, and the rule of law. All variables together predicted 66.30 percent of the variance in school administration effectiveness with statistical significance at the .01 level.

Conclusion: Good governance administration that affected the effectiveness of small basic education institutions as perceived by teachers included morality, effectiveness, cost-effectiveness, and the rule of law, with a high positive relationship of 0.78 with statistical significance at the .01 level.
