Abstract

Background and Aims: Waste management remains a persistent issue that the government continually addresses. Most people do not have all kinds of garbage sorted out and waste discharged. Most of the people who cause waste are still consumed by the bushes to import waste to households. Lack of environmental consciousness, irresponsibility, and discipline in maintaining cleanliness. No importance is seen in reducing and separating community waste for use and disposal (1), to study the waste management level of Kosum Phisai Subdistrict Municipality, Mahasarakham Province (2), to compare the waste management of Kosum Phisai Subdistrict Municipality, Kosum Phisai District, categorized by gender, age, and education. Occupation and duration of living in the district (3) to study suggestions on the development of waste management of Kosumipikosumphisai Subdistrict Municipality, Maha Sarakham Province.

Methodology: Using quantitative research, the sample group is 380 eligible citizens in Kosum Phisai Subdistrict, Kosum Phisai District, Maha Sarakham Province. Using Taro Yamane's formula, proportional and simple randomization. Research tools include questionnaires, confidence values, .757, and statistics used in data analysis include percentage, average, frequency, standard deviation, t-test, and ANOVA.

Results: The research found that the level of waste disposal according to the 3R principle of Kosum Phisai Subdistrict Municipality was "very high" with a total average of 4.04 (5). D. = 0.71), when classified on a one-sided basis, found that reuse (Recycle) had the highest average (C = 4.14), followed by reduction (Reduce) (𝑥̄ = 4.01) and reuse (𝑥̄ = 3.96). It shows that people have the strongest sorting and recycling behavior, but reuse still needs to be further promoted. Comparative results show that gender, age, and duration of residence in the municipality have no statistically significant difference (Sig. > 0.05). Meanwhile, education, occupation, and income levels vary in some areas of waste management, especially those with higher education levels, and stable careers tend to have better waste management practices.

Conclusion: The waste management of Kosum Phisai Subdistrict Municipality is strong and very high, especially in the area of recycling, which has received the highest level of cooperation from the people. However, reduce and Reuse must be promoted to balance all three areas. Development guidelines may focus on integrating public policy, motivation, and participation of all sectors, such as households, schools, temples, and markets, to ensure the longer-term sustainability of waste management systems. The concept of sustainable development emphasizes integration between the environment, economy, and society (United Nations Environment Program, 2016).
