Background and aim: In the era of digital economy and society, digital literacy and financial literacy are regarded as essential skills that significantly influence youth decision-making in entrepreneurship. This is especially evident in the context of Maha Sarakham Province, which serves as an educational hub in northeastern Thailand. The objectives of this study were: (1) to examine the influence of digital literacy on entrepreneurial intentions among youth in Maha Sarakham Province, and (2) to examine the influence of financial literacy on entrepreneurial intentions among youth in the same context.
Research Methodology: This study employed a quantitative research approach. The sample consisted of 400 youths aged between 14 and 17 years residing in the Mueang District of Maha Sarakham Province. A purposive sampling technique was used, and data were collected using a structured questionnaire. The data were analyzed using stepwise multiple regression analysis to examine the relationship and influence of independent variables on entrepreneurial intention, with the level of statistical significance set at 0.05.
Research Results: The findings revealed that digital literacy, comprising technical, cognitive, and socio-emotional skills, was positively related to and significantly influenced entrepreneurial intention, with a predictive value (R²) of 0.340. Regarding financial literacy, comprising knowledge, behavior, and attitude components, financial attitude exerted the strongest influence on entrepreneurial intention. The model explained 44.4% of the variance in entrepreneurial intention (R² = 0.444), highlighting the importance of financial perspective and attitude in motivating youth toward entrepreneurship.
Conclusion: The results indicate that both digital literacy and financial literacy significantly influence entrepreneurial intentions among youth in Maha Sarakham Province. In particular, socio-emotional digital skills and financial attitude are critical factors that enhance confidence, initiative, and decision-making in youth entrepreneurial pursuits. It is recommended that educational systems and local policy initiatives promote the development of these competencies to cultivate a new generation of capable and motivated entrepreneurs.
