Abstract

Background and Aims: Families with autistic children's experiences are essential to comprehending the difficulties, resiliency, and support networks required for their welfare. These encounters contribute to the development of inclusive policies, customized solutions, and societal awareness and empathy. Thus, the purpose of this qualitative research was to describe the experiences of families with children with autism, studied at the lower secondary level Schools that provide co-educational teaching.

Methodology: There were a total of 5 families participating in the research, specifically selecting data to collect through in-depth interviews and focus groups with questions prepared in advance. Along with recording audio during the interview, Qualitative research uses phenomenological concepts.

Results: The study's findings are consistent with the experiences of families with children who have autism, demonstrating the ongoing nature of the family struggle process that starts with; (1) First, the treatment process is challenging, and there aren't enough medical facilities to accommodate the quantity of service recipients, which leads to lengthy wait periods. (2) The second is a lack of awareness and comprehension of autism, as well as a lack of access to helpful information sources that aid in the comprehension of autistic youngsters. (3) The third factor is access to educational facilities, namely, identifying inclusive schools. Finally, (4) family empowerment, family support, and encouragement from others, such as friends, family, doctors, teachers, and therapists, as well as from hearing about other families' experiences with children with special needs. These results give families insight into the difficult circumstances they encounter, enabling them to work together to support their child's growth.

Conclusion: The study's findings highlight the different challenges faced by families of children with autism, such as gaps in knowledge, education, therapy, and support systems. By tackling these issues and fostering cooperation, families can more effectively steer their course and foster their child's development.
