Background and Objectives: Scouting activities play a crucial role in youth development by enhancing various skills based on the Scout curriculum. The objectives of these activities align with the Scout Act B.E. 2551 (Section 8), which focuses on developing Scouts physically, intellectually, emotionally, and morally to become responsible citizens who contribute to social unity and progress. However, effective management of scouting activities requires appropriate principles. The Buddhist-integrated approach to Scout management, utilizing the Four Iddhipada (Paths of Accomplishment), serves as a strategic framework to ensure successful implementation. This study aims to analyze the application of the Four Iddhipada in Scout management within schools to maximize its effectiveness in student development.
Methodology: This study adopts a descriptive research approach through document analysis and the review of relevant practices concerning Scout management in schools. The study emphasizes the integration of Buddhist principles with Scout management strategies. The Four Iddhipada, which include Chanda (satisfaction and enthusiasm), Viriya (perseverance), Citta (dedication), and Vimamsa (reasoning and contemplation), are applied as a management framework to enhance scouting activities in schools. The data analyzed include academic documents, legal frameworks, and best practices related to Buddhist-integrated Scout management.
Results: The findings indicate that implementing the Four Iddhipada in Scout management significantly improves the efficiency of scouting activities. Scout leaders who apply the Four Iddhipada can effectively develop desirable student attributes, such as discipline, public-mindedness, and the ability to engage in the Scout learning process effectively. Furthermore, integrating Buddhist principles into Scout management enhances students' understanding and appreciation of ethical values and moral principles.
Conclusion: The application of the Four Iddhipada as a strategic approach to Scout management in schools effectively supports the achievement of scouting objectives. This approach helps students develop both physically and mentally, promotes moral values, and fosters behaviors aligned with societal norms. Additionally, it supports national strategies for lifelong human development and the creation of a learning society, thereby contributing to the formation of responsible and capable citizens.
