Background and Aims: Air freight plays a vital role in global logistics and supply chain systems, especially in an era of rapid international trade growth. This research aimed to (1) study the logistics performance index level of air freight businesses in Thailand, (2) examine the relationship between the logistics performance index and business performance, and (3) compare the logistics performance index across different organizational sizes.
Methodology: This quantitative research employed questionnaires to collect data from 385 executives and managers in air freight businesses, selected through proportional stratified random sampling. The questionnaire's reliability was 0.89. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and one-way ANOVA.
Results: (1) The overall logistics performance index was at a high level, with punctuality scoring highest and customs procedures scoring lowest. (2) The logistics performance index showed a significant positive correlation with business performance at a high level. (3) Organizations of different sizes showed differences in logistics performance index levels, with large organizations scoring the highest, followed by medium-sized and small organizations, respectively.
Conclusion: The findings highlight the importance of developing a logistics performance index, particularly in improving customs procedures and supporting small and medium-sized organizations, to enhance the operational performance and competitiveness of Thailand's air freight business sector.
