Abstract

The purposes of this study were to: 1) investigate Grade 8 students' satisfaction with learning mathematics on the topic of polynomials through the Team Assisted Individualization (TAI) instructional technique integrated with gamification, and 2) compare students' mathematics learning achievement before and after instruction using the TAI instructional technique integrated with gamification. The participants consisted of 20 Grade 8 students selected through purposive sampling. The research instruments included: 1) twelve lesson plans, which were evaluated as having the highest level of appropriateness; 2) a student satisfaction questionnaire with a reliability coefficient of 0.91; and 3) a mathematics learning achievement test with a reliability coefficient of 0.99. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including the mean and percentage, as well as a dependent-samples t-test. The findings indicated that: 1) students' satisfaction with learning mathematics on the topic of polynomials through the TAI instructional technique integrated with gamification was at a high level; and 2) students' mathematics learning achievement after the intervention was significantly higher than before the intervention at the .05 level of statistical significance.
