Abstract

Purpose The purpose of this study was to investigate and study the association between the health literacy, health behaviors and physical activity of North Bangkok University undergraduate students.


Methods Data were collected in 358 students of North Bangkok University, selected by using stratified random sampling method. The instrument manipulated in this study consisted of the health literacy and health behaviors questionnaires and the Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ). Data were analyzed for frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, median and Pearson product moment correlation coefficient.     


Results The most undergraduate students of North Bangkok University have a good health literacy, fair health behaviors and health literacy have positive correlation with the health behaviors (r = 0.284, p = 0.00). The students had sufficient physical activity with moderate intensity.


Conclusion The undergraduate students of North Bangkok University have a good overall health literacy and correlated with fair health behaviors, having high health literacy can lead to having a high degree of health behaviors. However, the students have sufficient physical activity for health benefit, but they have high degree of sedentary behavior.
