Development of Cooperative Learning Activities Combined with Mind Mapping on Ayutthaya and Thonburi to Promote Analytical Thinking Skills and Learning Achievements of Grade 5 Students

Abstract

The aims of this research were 1) to develop cooperative learning activities combined with mind mapping to achieve the criteria of 75/75, 2) to compare learning achievements before and after implementing the developed cooperative learning activities combined with mind mapping, 3) to compare analytical thinking skills before and after implementing the developed cooperative learning activities combined with mind mapping, and 4) to study the students’ satisfaction of the implementation of the developed cooperative learning activities combined with mind mapping. The sample group included six grade 5 students at
Ban Sawang Don Du School. They were obtained through cluster sampling. The research instruments were learning management plans, learning achievement tests, analytical thinking skills tests, and a satisfaction questionnaire. The statistics used in data analysis were mean, percentage, standard deviation, and Wilcoxon Singed Rank Test.

The results of the research were as follows. 1) The developed cooperative learning activities combined with mind mapping consisted of 13 learning management plans, a mean of appropriateness at 4.42-4.60 (high-highest levels), and the criteria of 82.69/81.33. 2) The learning achievements after implementing the developed cooperative learning activities combined with mind mapping were greater than before at a statistically significant level of .05. 3) The analytical thinking skills after implementing the developed cooperative learning activities combined with mind mapping were higher than before at a statistically significant level of .05. 4) The students’ satisfaction with the developed cooperative learning activities combined with mind mapping was at a high level ( = 4.63, S.D.= 0.41).
