Changes in Music: Luk Luang Por Busarakham Tall Narrow Drum Band

Abstract

              Music changes from time to time. It is connected to phenomena rising in the global communities. Musical identities react to social factors. These social changes affect humans to adapt themselves.
The influence from social phenomena does affect human values and also musical changes.

              Luk Luang Por Busarakham Tall Narrow Drum Band has composed new rhythmic patterns of music
and shows. These new products were derived from Isan intonation preaching (Thed Lae) and their names were inspired by Jataka (a story of the last Great Incarnation Buddha). These new pieces of music were integrated with ideas of a venerable monk named Charoen Thanyuthato who generated his ideas from monastic routines and experiences. His expertise resulted in new rhythm compositions and re-creation to arrange
a longer version to design patterns. However, the original patterns still remain.

              The changes in the music of Luk Luang Por Busarakham Tall Narrow Drum Band were adjusted to get along with the present social contexts and technological advancement which are developed
all the time. This kind of changes is not to dismantle, but to conserve the culture. This band will always be a lifelong model for other tall narrow drum bands in Udon Thani Province.
