The Development of the Quality of Life of Ban Nong No Tai, Upgraded to a Sustainable Self-reliant Rajabhat Village

Abstract

The research aimed to: (1) study the needs for community innovations for the development of Ban Nong No Tai, upgraded to a sustainable self-reliant Rajabhat Village of Mahasarakham Province; (2) study the results of using community innovations in the development of the quality of life of Ban Nong No Tai, upgraded to a sustainable self-reliant Rajabhat Village of Mahasarakham Province; (3) study the sample’s satisfaction with the development of Ban Nong No Tai, upgraded to a sustainable self-reliant Rajabhat Village of Mahasarakham Province. The research employed the mixed methodology of quantity research and quality research. The sample comprised 50 people, selected according to the criteria of Rajabhat Village. The key informants were 10 heads of community enterprises and members of the Rungruang Naturally Dyed Cotton Cloth Weaving Group of Nong No Tai, 3 community learned persons specialized in cloth weaving, and 3 academicians related to the development of the cotton cloth weaving group. The instruments were: (1) a survey form for needs for community innovations on economic, social, environmental, educational and well-being aspects for the development of Ban Nong No Tai, upgraded to a sustainable self-reliant Rajabhat Village of Maha sarakham Province; (2) a questionnaire on the quality of life for Ban Nong No Tai, upgraded to a sustainable self-reliant Rajabhat Village of Mahasarakham Province; (3) a satisfaction questionnaire. The statistics employed in the analysis of data were basic statistics: the mean () and standard deviation (S.D.). The research setting was Ban Nong No Tai, Phra That Sub-district, Na Dun District, Mahasarakham Province. The presentation of the results employed tables and descriptive analysis.

            The results were as follows:

  • The needs for community innovations for the development of Ban Nong No Tai, upgraded to a sustainable self-reliant Rajabhat Village of Mahasarakham Province were: (1) on the economic aspect — cultural tourism — 33.33 percent; (2) on the social aspect — production group administration — 32.00 percent; (3) on the well-being aspect — multi-age recreation — 30.61 percent.
  • Regarding the use of community innovations in the development

of the quality of life of Ban Nong No Tai, upgraded to a sustainable self-reliant Rajabhat Village of Mahasarakham Province, it was found that the village, having the quality of life as a sustainable self-reliant Rajabhat Village, had 5 aspects: economic, social, environmental, educational and well-being aspects. On the whole, the quality of life was at the highest level ( ) = 4.75 S.D. = 0.50. When each aspect of the quality of life was considered, it was found that the 1st to the 4th ranking aspects, which were the well-being, social, economic and environmental aspects, had their means as follows:  = 4.92, S.D. = 0.26;  = 4.88, S.D. = 0.36);  = 4.78, S.D. = 0.42; and  = 4.74, S.D. = 0.49.

            (3) Regarding the sample’s satisfaction with the poject, it was found that, on the whole, the satisfaction was at the high level ( = 4.15, S.D. = 1.11). The highest satisfaction was on using the results in the Rajabhat Village and extending the results to other villages ( = 4.60, S.D. = 0.44)
