Development of Tourism Promoting Application of Thai Saek Cultural Community, At Samat Sub District, Mueang District, Nakhon Phanom Province

Abstract

Augmented reality technology, or AR for short, is a type of mobile application that blends the real and virtual worlds to provide information to outsiders. Learn about and encourage tourism while providing a source of income for the community. Thus, this research aimed to 1) publicize information on cultural tourism sites in the Thai Saek cultural village to be widely known by using the application, 2) to promote cultural tourism and support the learning resources in art and culture of the Thai Saek cultural village, Nakhon Phanom, 3) to study the satisfaction of the sample group towards the application of cultural tourism promotion of Thai Saek Tribe. The sample group consisted of Thai Saek villagers in Moo 5 and 6, At Samat Sub District, community leaders, local philosophers, and government agents involved in Nakhon Phanom tourism promotion. The data was collected using group discussion and interview forms.

          The research results found that:

  1. The application promoting the Thai Saek cultural village was designed to support Augmented Reality Technology in the form of Marker-based AR which was used with life-size standee that has a marker for reading data. The application will display data in the form of videos, 3D models, and animations to provide information about the Thai Saek cultural village, such as history costumes, traditions, ways of life, food, important locations in the community, and more.
  2. The application that was developed plays an important role in helping promote cultural tourism and support the learning resources in art and culture of the Thai Saek cultural village which results in community tourism promotion through various aspects, such as tourism promotion, publication of Thai Saek cultural information, economic promotion in the community, and collaboration with other government organizations.
  3. The satisfaction of the sample group towards the application tourism promotion of Thai Saek cultural village was at a high level (= 4.24, S.D. = 0.70). When considering each aspect was found that the satisfaction of the sample group was at a high level in 3 aspects which were the aspect of interest ( = 4.44, S.D. = 0.55), the aspect of application tool ( = 4.16, S.D. = 0.71), and the aspect of content ( = 4.11, S.D. = 0.83), respectively.

          In conclusion, with its immersive information about the history, customs, and important community aspects, the Thai Saek cultural village's augmented reality application effectively promotes cultural tourism. High user satisfaction ratings attest to the application's effectiveness in piquing interest and enhancing usability and content quality, which in turn promotes local tourism and economic development.
