THE DEVELOPING MODEL FOR SUSTAINABLE TOURISM LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT IN SATUN OLD CITY, THAILAND

Abstract

This research aimed to : 1) study the tourist behavior in the Satun Old City 2) to study of sustainable tourism logistics management in the Satun Old City, problems and recommendations for the development of sustainable tourism logistics management in the Satun Old City according to the opinions of tourists and stakeholders from tourism in the Satun Old City, and 3) to create the developing model for sustainable tourism logistics management in Satun Old City. The mixed-methods research technique was employed with two research phases. The first phase was quantitative research with 400 Thai tourists who visited the Satun Old City as members of the sample population using the technique of systematic random sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire. The statistics used in data analysis were frequency, percentage, mean, Chi-square standard deviation, Independent Samples t-test and One way ANOVA. The second phase was qualitative research with 13 key informants using the technique of purposive sampling. The research instrument was an interview form. Data were content analysis and synthesized the quantitative and qualitative research results to create a model for sustainable tourism logistics management  in Satun Old City.

The results showed that: The developing model for sustainable tourism logistics management in Satun Old City It consists of development in four areas: 1) physical flow, 2) information flow, 3) financial flow, and 4) operations to create an image of a tourist attraction. Implementing this model must has many agencies involved. Therefore, Satun Province should establish committee and assigned duties and responsibilities to various relevant departments.
