Abstract

This article aimed to study the operational situation of the Saphan Hin Community-Based Ecotourism Enterprise Group and to enhance tourism management capacity through a participatory process involving its members. The study population consisted of 58 members of the Saphan Hin Community-Based Ecotourism Enterprise Group. The research employed a participatory action research approach, specifically focusing on group members who participated in situational assessments alongside community-based tourism networks and engaged in analytical meetings. The qualitative research tools used included: 1) focus group discussions, 2) participatory and non-participatory observations, and 3) document analysis. The research findings revealed that: 1) The operational situation of the community enterprise group showed that the group had established management systems and made preparations for community-based tourism, aiming to encourage community participation and ensure that the community benefits from tourism. Evidence of management development and preparedness was also apparent. 2) The study identified operational challenges in each activity along the tourism value chain and proposed management solutions aimed at strengthening unity and establishing shared goals among group members. This research differs from previous studies by emphasizing the enhancement of tourism management capacity through participatory processes. It also integrates the unique identity of local tourism attractions into landscape and environmental development to create a more appealing and unified tourism management system.
