Main Article Content
Abstract
This research aimed to study the context of Thai-Chinese culture and develop learning media in people, city, and culture in Hua Talad Community, Mueang District, Pattani Province, using field study, purposive sampling, semi-structured in-depth interviews with an IOC of 0.91, non-participatory observation, and triangulation for data reliability. The 35 informants were residents of the area, community presidents, community vice presidents, activity organizing groups, student groups, and community activists. The study revealed two findngs. First, people in the area live together in a multicultural society. Activities based on the original beliefs of Chinese-Thais are related to places, shrines, and historical buildings of the community. Local Thai-Chinese food is produced and sold both during festivals and for local households. Culture, beliefs, rituals, and relationships of people are related to respect and revival of their own culture. In addition, there is a network system to drive cooperation from the state power system, local government, and external support systems. This is considered a move towards elevating educational innovation. Second, Thai, English and Chinese cultural learning media under the concept of H2C (Human = H, City = C1, Culture = C2) has capitalized on the strengths of groups of people, cities and community cultures to be elevated to educational innovation media that incorporate tourism. The considerations for designing and developing media are the importance of online systems (Visual Communication Graphic Design) and extracting cultural capital, which are elements at the utilization level.
