Factors Contributing to the Differences between the Two Thai Translations of George Orwell’s 1984

Abstract
George Orwell’s 1984 has had two Thai translations that are separated by nearly 40 years. This quantitative textual study tries to determine what factors contributed to the differences between the first (by Rassamee Phaoluangthong and Amnuaychai Patithatphaophong) and second (by Suang-apsorn Kasikranant) Thai translations of George Orwell’s 1984. It was discovered that the main cause of those versions’ discrepancies was the influence of time, which had an impact on the language and translation methods used. Additionally, the subjective constraints of translators also had an impact on translation discrepancies too.
