CHALLENGES FACED BY SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS IN MANAGING GENERATIONAL DIFFERENCES AMONG TEACHERS
Keywords:

This academic article aims to analyze and synthesize knowledge regarding the challenges faced by school administrators arising from generational differences among teachers and to propose appropriate management strategies suitable for the 21st-century Thai educational context. The study employed a literature review and synthesis, synthesizing relevant concepts, theories, and research literature from both national and international sources. The findings reveal that contemporary Thai schools consist of three primary generations of teachers: Gen X, Gen Y, and Gen Z. These groups exhibit distinct values, communication styles, work motivations, and levels of technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) acceptance, which directly affect collaboration, knowledge sharing, and teamwork. Continuing to rely on rigid, traditional management styles may lead to intergenerational conflict, diminished organizational commitment, and impaired learning quality. Furthermore, the synthesis highlights five key strategies for managing generational diversity: (1) building diverse teams and fostering collaborative teamwork; (2) promoting continuous professional development and capacity building; (3) providing mentoring, coaching, and support systems; (4) creating equity and equal opportunities; and (5) enhancing communication, interpersonal relationships, and organizational culture. These strategies provide a framework for school administrators to transform generational diversity into strength, resolve conflict, and sustainably elevate educational quality
