METACOGNITION: APPLICATION TO LEARNING MANAGEMENT IN THE CLASSROOM
Keywords:
Metacognition, Application, Learning managementAbstract
This article aims to present the synthesis of metacognitive concepts integrated into classroom learning management, serving as a practical guideline for employing metacognition as a multidimensional strategy for learner development. Metacognition refers to an individual's cultivated ability to be aware of their own cognitive processes and engage in self-reflection. This capability enables learners to formulate appropriate strategies and self-direct toward their established goals. Metacognition is highly significant in learning management across two primary dimensions. In the first dimension, it serves as an instructional strategy that teachers can utilize to stimulate learners' self-awareness and cognitive reflection, ultimately fostering these practices into long-term habits. In the second dimension, metacognition is a vital skill in the contemporary era that equips learners with a foundational understanding of the learning process. It empowers them to autonomously develop other essential skills, design their own learning pathways appropriately, and successfully navigate toward their desired outcomes.
