This article examines the political ideology of the United States under the second presidency of Donald Trump through an analysis and interpretation of the speech delivered by Marco Rubio, the United States Secretary of State, at the Munich Security Conference 2026, where he participated as a representative of the United States. The study finds that the political ideology of the United States under Donald Trump’s second administration consists of two principal dimensions: (1) the restoration of American greatness through the promotion and implementation of policies that depart from the principles of liberal democracy; and (2) the revival and strengthening of the close relationship and alliance between the United States and Europe in order to re-establish both regions as powerful and influential actors within global geopolitics. The latter objective is pursued through policies that depart from the principles of liberal democracy, with the broader ambition of enabling the United States and Europe to once again emerge as the “greatest civilization in human history” and jointly advance toward the creation of a “new century of the West” capable of shaping the trajectory of the twenty-first century.
