Abstract

Objectives of this research were: 1. To study the political context influencing the social construction of reality regarding the Move Forward Party 2. To study the social construction of reality regarding the Move Forward Party through Thai Post and 3. To Study the social construction of reality regarding the Move Forward Party through Matichon. This study was qualitative research, collecting documentary data from the online news platforms of Thai Post and Matichon.

Findings were as follows: 1. The political context influencing the construction of reality concerning the Move Forward Party in Thai Post and Matichon between B.E. 2020 – 2023 stemed from political conflicts between the government and the Move Forward Party. These conflicts shaped the news presentation of each outlet, reflecting different political stances. Thai Post aligned with conservative perspective, emphasizing stability, security, and loyalty to the monarchy, whereas Matichon aligned with a liberal-democratic perspective, highlighting state scrutiny, rights and freedoms, and political transition. 2. In constructing reality regarding the Move Forward Party, Thai Post presented news with a negative tone, emphasizing support for the government. Its language use tended to be harsh, framing the Move Forward Party as a threat to national security, particularly in relation to structural reforms such as the amendment of Section 112 and military reform. The news sources selected were predominantly one-sided, reflecting ideological orientations and political standpoints, and 3. In contrast, Matichon constructed reality regarding the Move Forward Party with a positive tone, presenting news that tends to support the party. The language used seeked to attract attention and stimulate interest, especially in scrutinizing the government, as in the cases of the Elephant Ticket, It provided space for all parties and emphasized a clear balance of information.
