BUDDHADHAMMA APPLICATION TO PROMOTE POLITICAL STRENGTH OF THE POK ARUN COMMUNITY IN BANGKOK YAI DISTRICT BANGKOK

Abstract

Objectives of this research article were as follows: 1. To study the level of political strength of Praka Arun community, Bangkok Yai District, Bangkok Metropolis; 2. To study the relationship between Saraniyadhamma principles and political strength of Praka Arun community; and 3. To present the application of Buddhist principles to promote political strength of Praka Arun community. The research methodology was the mixed-methods. Quantitative research collected data from a sample of 300 people using a questionnaire. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and Pearson’s product moment correlation coefficient. Qualitative research, data were collected using in-depth interviews with 9 key informants. Data were analyzed by descriptive content interpretation.

The research results were found that: 1. The overall political strength of Praka Arun community, Bangkok Yai District, Bangkok was at a moderate level (=3.23). 2. The relationship between the 6 Saraniyadhamma principles and the political strength of Praka Arun community, Bangkok Yai District, Bangkok Metropolis was at a moderate level (r=0.470**) with significant positive relationship at the 0.01 level, so the set research hypothesis was accepted. 3. The application of Buddhist principles to promote the political strength of Praka Arun community, Bangkok Yai District, Bangkok Metropolis was the 6 Saraniyadhamma principles consisting of 1. Mettakayakamma, doing good deeds to each other 2. Mettavacikamma, speaking kindly to others 3. Mettamanokamma, respecting others’ ideas 4. Satharanabogi, sharing with each other 5. Silasamanyata, maintaining discipline. All 6 aspects of Saraniyadhamma principles, Ditthi samanyata, having good opinions, was the application of the 6 Saraniyadhamma principles, which was a systematic shift from ideas to action to address the political weaknesses of the Praka Arun community, enabling it to utilize its existing economic and social strengths. Ultimately leading to the development of strong and sustainable communities.
