A STUDY OF ENGLISH TEACHERS’ NEEDS FOR TEACHING COMPETENCY DEVELOPMENT IN SUPHAN BURI PRIMARY EDUCATIONAL SERVICE AREA OFFICE 3

Objectives of this research article were to study the needs for developing teaching competencies among English teachers in schools under the Suphan Buri Primary Educational Service Area Office 3. The study employed a survey research methodology. The samples consisted of 97 English teachers selected through simple random sampling. The research instrument was a questionnaire on English teaching competencies, which demonstrated a Cronbach's alpha coefficient of 0.96. Data were analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation.
The results revealed that the overall teaching competency level of English teachers was at a high level. Eight competencies were rated at a high level or above, including teacher spirit, access to educational information technology, use of digital platforms for instructional management, classroom learning atmosphere management, student assessment and evaluation, curriculum development and lesson planning, educational innovation and classroom research development, and self-development in English language proficiency. Two competencies were rated at a moderate level, including managing learning for students with diverse abilities and communication in various situations.
