BUDDHIST MANAGEMENT APPROACHES FOR RELIGIOUS EDUCATION ADMINISTRATION OF THE SANGHA IN NONTHABURI PROVINCE

Abstract

This research aims to: 1. examine the general conditions, 2. study the components, and 3. propose a Buddhist approach to the management of religious education. Data were collected from 25 key informants and through focused group discussions with 10 experts in the fields of religious education, Sangha administration, and educational development.

The findings reveal that the Sangha in Nonthaburi Province has developed a systematic approach to managing Pariyatti Dhamma (formal monastic education) through building collaborative networks and integrating modern technology, despite facing challenges related to personnel and budget constraints. The key components of educational management identified in the study include planning, implementation, and evaluation executed through a blend of modern administrative tools and the structured application of the Four Iddhipada (Bases of Success): Chanda (aspiration) to foster motivation, Viriya (effort) in curriculum development, Citta (focus) to promote mindfulness and concentration, and Vimamsa (investigation) to cultivate analytical thinking skills. The study recommends formulating inclusive educational development policies, enhancing personnel and curriculum that integrate Buddhist principles with modern disciplines, building collaborative networks, and developing comprehensive evaluation systems. It also suggests further research on digital-age teaching and learning, as well as the integration of Buddhist values with contemporary knowledge for the holistic development of religious education.
