THE POLITICAL COMMUNICATION FOR THE RECOGNITION OF STATUS OF BUDDHIST PRIESTESS IN THAILAND: CASE STUDY OF BUDDHIST PRIESTESS NANTAYANEE AND BUDDHIST PRIESTESS THAMMAKAMALA BETWEEN 2546-2562 B.E.

Abstract

The objectives of this research article are: 1. Study the political context that affects political communication for the status of nuns in Thailand. 2. Study the political communication process of Bhikkhuni Nantayanee (Northern Region). 3. Study the political communication process of Bhikkhuni Dha. M.Kamala (Southern Region) is qualitative research. The study framework was chosen from the communication theory of David K. Burlo (Berlo, 1960) and Brian McNair (McNair, 1999) by collecting data through in-depth interviews with 31 figures or people.

The results of the research found that: 1. Political context and context All affect communication for nun status. with the nun Nanthayani Being a driver in the northern region and Bhikkhuni Dhamma Kamala is the driving force in the southern region. The status of both nuns is accepted by the people of the northern and southern regions to a certain extent. 2. Political communication process of Nunthayani nuns It is characterized by David K. Berlo's theory that the messenger is unique in terms of background. Have a good attitude towards oneself, Buddhism, and the status of a nun. Has excellent communication skills able to persuade to have faith in Dhamma and get the message 3. Communication process of Bhikkhuni Dhamma Kamala According to David K. Berlo's theory of communication, the messenger has the potential in conveying information through various media, it is able to convince people of different religions. Different cultures come to cooperate and coordinate assistance for humanity. Without discriminating against race or religion, the research can be summarized as follows: 1) The political context is an important factor in pushing for nun status. To be enacted as a law 2) Bhikkhunis perform a profound duty in spreading Buddhism. 3) Assistance is a strategy for people to accept the status of a nun.
