A MECHANISM OF TOURISM MANAGEMENT IN COMMUNITY BY RELIGIONS DIMENSION AT AYUTTHAYA

Abstract

Objectives of this research were to: 1. Study the local tourism problems through the religious dimension in Ayuthaya Province,2. Study the local tourism mechanism through the  religious dimension in Ayuthaya Province and 3. To propose the local tourism promotion through the religious dimension in Ayuthaya Province.

Methodology was the mixed methods: the qualitative research collected data by the researcher, from document, from key informants and participants in focus group discussion by in-depth-interviewing analyzed data by content analysis. 

     Findings were as follows:

1.The community tourism condition through the religious dimension in Ayudhaya Province was that public land development was difficult to pursue due to limited space, local people did not participate in whole development, the public land was narrow, not possible to expand causing limited parking. Local people were fighting for the space for making living. There should be good short, long and annual plan for community development for cultural and ancient city tourism.

2.Community tourism mechanism through the religious dimension in Ayudhaya Province consisted of 4 dimensions as of Demming’s quality cycle of PDCA and Buddhadhamma, Itthipada 4:      Planning, opening opportunities fir people in the communities to participate in tourism planning together. Regular and frequent meeting for the project.  Doing, people in communities dedicated to the project according to the set plan carefully. People in communities participated in developing the local tourism through the religious dimension with pride and could be ckecked at every step.  Checking, listening to others’ opinions. Committee appointment for cross monitoring and following-up and evaluating continuously. Improving the loop holes and mistakes by participatory action.  Acting, strong, secure and sustainable vision and determination with regularly checking for the strong and weak points for more development, emphasizing public hearing and opinions.

3.Community tourism mechanism through the religious dimension in Ayudhaya Province consisted of: 1) tourism place in communities consisting of 5 S’s; clean, no garbage, not dirty, lighted, no dark corner, safe, not dangerous for tourists, peaceful, not crowded, no pollutions, safe and people in communities are healthy and self disciplined, 2) tourism activities mechanism through the religious dimension in Ayuthaya Province consisted of the activities designed for tourists to sense through the six senses; figure, sound, smell, tase and touch, 3) competency development mechanism for local people to be a part of sustainable tourism consisted of 4 S’s; creating motivation, habit, role and comprehension, 4) community environmental development mechanism for community tourism was that; appropriate tourist attractions to welcome appropriate tourists, not too many to handle that caused the inconveniences in transportation, communication, There should be clear signs for locations, good welcoming atmosphere to impress the tourists. People in communities should provide sufficient food, drink and souvenirs with comfortable environment, not too hot or too cold and plenty of rest areas when strolling for sight-seeing.
