ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT WITHIN THE TEMPLES OF MONKS IN WANGNOI DISTRICT, PHRA NAKHON SI AYUTTHAYA PROVINCE

Abstract

The objectives of this research were 1) to study the environmental management within the temples of Sangha administrators in Wangnoi district,  Ayutthaya province 2) to compare the opinions of monks on the environmental management within the temples of Sangha administrators in Wangnoi district,  Ayutthaya province classified by personal factors and 3) to present the problems, obstacles and suggestions about the environmental management  within the temples of Sangha administrators in Wangnoi  district,  Ayutthaya province. This research was the mixed method research between the quantitative research that collected the data by using the questionnaires that created by own researcher with reliability coefficient of as 0.896. The sampling group was the 195 monks in Wangnoi district, Ayutthaya province. The statistics used were frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation(S.D.) and tested hypothesis from the person data of respondents of questionnaires such as gender, age, level of education careers, and income,T-test, F-test, One-way Analysis of Variance least Significant Difference : LSD and the qualitative research through in depth interview from 8 key informants with the tool of research as the structured interview and the data analysis was the descriptive analysis technique.

The findings of the research were as follows:

1.The monks had the opinions to environmental management within the temples of Sangha administrators in Wangnoi district, Ayutthaya province in averall, at the high level with mean and standard deviation scale at (=3.75, S.D.=0.736), when considered in each aspect it was found that it was at the high level in all aspects as follows : sustainable using aspect (=3.83, S.D.=0.864), waste or pollution management aspect (=3.76, S.D.=0.931), enterprise control and management aspect (=3.67, S.D.=0.904).

2.The findings of research assumptions comparison of personal factors like age, ordination year, general education qualification, Dhamma education qualification and Pali education qualification found that the monks who had the age , ordination year, general education qualification, Dhamma education qualification, had the opinions to environmental management within the temples of Sangha administrators in Wangnoi district,  Ayutthaya province  indifferently. It rejected the hypothesis.

3.The suggestions to develop the environmental management within the temples of Sangha administrators in Wangnoi district, Ayutthaya province like the problems and obstacles that found that lacked of the budget to support, no educated personnel about pollution and environment, no specific place for dustbins setting as throwing the wastes point that found that environment within temples and community around temples was ignored and dirtiness, not plan for scenario adjustment within temple and community. The suggestions: should have the budget to support the temples to have the activity for environment within the temple, should have the plan for rubbish or waste campaigning project correctly and to use the rubbish to have an advantage, should have the environmental management within temple and outside community including environmental preservation with good scenario.
