The Role of Sangha to Promote virtues and Morality in Community of Sangha Region at Section No. 9

Abstract

The purposes of this research there are (1) To study the role of Sandha in the way
of promoting virtues and morality in community. (2) To study the step and methods of
promoting virtues and morality. and (3) To study the problems, troubles and the way to
solve them in the way of promoting virtues and morality. The sample of this research
there are Sangha region at section no.9 were 372 monks. The instrucments using in this
research were Rating Scale Questionnaires and open-ended. The statistic for data analysis
included frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation.
The research finding that :
1. The role of promoting virtues and morality in the family institute was found that
monks had the role as conciliator to suppress the conflict of family in community at the
most level.

2. The role of promoting virtues and morality in the political government institute
was found that monks had governmental help, assisting people and national security
3. The role of promoting virtues and morality in the religious institute was found
that monks had the role to create good senses for laity by going for alms in the morning
and accepting the invitation for making merit of people.
4. The role of promoting virtues and morality in the education institute was found
that monks had the role as being Dhamma teacher at the educational center of Buddhism
on Sunday.
5. The role of promoting virtues and morality in the economic institute was found
that monks had the role to give the dwelling place to students outside the city, to give
the dwelling place to persons who came for meditation, to give the place to living or rent
by cheap cost to poor family in the purpose of building house
6. The role of promoting virtues and morality in the entertainment institute was
found that monks had the role to write many articles published on newspaper, to
compose the Dhamma books for Buddhist propagation.
7. The way to solve problems of lacking virtues and morality in community were;
many social institute should provide on virtues and morality must be the good idol,
should get promotion and support from the private and government conscientiously and
mass media should present them with responsibility to consciousness, tradition and Thai
culture.
