The Development Process of Bullying Prevention by Buddhist Peaceful Means of Kasikornbank Head Office

Abstract

The research article consisted of the following objectives: 1) to investigate and analyze the contexts, current situations, necessities, and theoretical concepts regarding the development process of bullying prevention according to modern science of Kasikornbank Head Office, 2) to explore and analyze the principles of Buddhist peaceful means for promoting the development process of bullying prevention, 3) to develop and present the Buddhist peaceful means the development process of bullying prevention of Kasikornbank Head Office. The study employed an action research. The tools were developed based on Ariyasacca (the four noble truths) model under 9-step framework. The samples used in the study were 25 employees of Kasikornbank Headquarters. The research tools were in-depth interview of 26 experts, peace dialogue of 4 persons, group discussion of 8 persons, observation and analysis of the results with qualitative data according to the research objectives.


From the study, it was found as follows:1) The contexts, current situations, necessities to prevent bullying. Since Kasikornbank is a large organization, employees have different duties and responsibilities. Sometimes, some employees unintentionally bully each other using these differences. The bank has always given priority to prevent bullying problems. It aims to provide employees with awareness, knowledge, understanding, know-how to prevent, relent, and solve bullying problems appropriately and sustainably. This research uses theoretical concepts in 5 areas: 1) Development Process, 2) Conflict and Violence, 3) Respect for Human Rights, 4) Peaceful Communication, and 5) Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs; 2) The Buddhist peaceful means conducive to the development process of bullying prevention by Buddhist peaceful means based on the Padhāna (effort, exertion). It includes 4 components: (1) Protecting oneself from being bullied or bullied others, (2) Suppressing one’s mind, not allowing it to conduct any bully behavior, (3) Developing people in society to have good mind, and (4) Maintaining good deeds for sustainability; and 3) The development process of bullying prevention by Buddhist peaceful means of Kasikornbank Head Office use a process is called KBANK Model. It consists of (1) Knowledge, (2) Behavior, (3) Attitude, (4) Network, and (5) Know-how. This process will cover 6 aspects of development including: (1) Peaceful organization, (2) Attentive Environment, (3) Respect for human rights, (4) Inner peace, (5) Peaceful communication, and (6) Buddhist peaceful means.
