Blended Supervision Model to Enhance Active Learning Management of Primary School Teachers

Abstract
The study consisted of the following objectives: 1) to investigate the current conditions and requirements for blended supervision to enhance active learning management of primary school teachers; and 2) to create blended supervision to enhance active learning management of primary school teachers. The research design was a mixed-method method conducted by studying relevant documents and research. To study opinions about the current situation and the need for blended supervision to promote active learning management of primary school teachers. The sample consisted of 388 elementary school teachers who were selected by multistage random sampling, using a questionnaire and study best practices of 3 elementary schools and 3 primary education service area offices by using a semi-structured interview form by focus group discussion of experts. Statistics used in data analysis were content analysis, percentage, mean and standard deviation.
From the study, the following results are found: 1) The current conditions and requirements for blended supervision to enhance active learning management of primary school teachers is at a high level. 2) Blended supervision model to enhance active learning management of primary school teachers is called “PIDA model” comprising: (1) Principles, which include Kalyāṇamitta (a good companion), participation, democracy, ability to adapt to change, efficiency and effectiveness; (2) Objective, which is aimed at encouraging teachers to effectively develop active learning so that supervisors can apply the model in their supervision to enhance active learning management of primary school teachers; (3) Procedure, which is a hybrid of face-to-face and online supervision, and consists of the steps of planning, informing, doing, and assessing; (4) Assessment, which is used to evaluate teachers' ability in managing active learning and satisfaction toward the use of model; and (5) Conditions for success, which includes the policies of educational/school administrators, understanding and awareness of the importance of active learning, as well as skills in using digital technology. From the model by experts, it is found that the propriety and feasibility blended supervision model to enhance active learning management of primary school teachers are overall at the highest level.
