Factors Affecting Risk Management of Savings Cooperatives in Thailand

Abstract

The purpose of this research paper is 1) to study the condition of risk and operational problems in the management of savings cooperatives in Thailand and 2) to analyze the factors affecting the risk management of cooperatives in Thailand. This is qualitative research. The population used in this research was Managers of 8 savings cooperatives in Thailand with a population of 1,396. The qualitative research was conducted using an in-depth interview model. The interview form was used as a tool for in-depth interviews with 8 experts in management and academic experts who received monthly performance reports of cooperatives in their responsible areas.


The results were as follows:


1) From investigating risk and operational problems in the management of savings cooperatives in Thailand, it is revealed that the said risk and operational problems in the management of savings cooperatives in Thailand mainly affect the risk management factors of the savings cooperatives in Thailand.


2) There are 4 factors affecting risk management of savings cooperatives in Thailand as follows: 1) risk management integration factors, 2) strategic risk management factors, 3) risk factors the ability to manage risks and create competitive advantages; and 4) risk management factors and shared social responsibility in the organization. Most of them affect the risk management of savings cooperatives in Thailand.
