An analysis of the roles and processes of the creative community in Thai society

Abstract

The research article consisted of the following objectives: 1) to study an analysis of the roles and responsibilities of community affecting the development process of the creative community in Thai society; 2) to investigate the enhancement of participation in the management of creative community development process in Thai society; and 3) to propose the guidelines for creative community development process in Thai society. The study used a qualitative research method, with data acquired through observation of the community setting as well as in-depth interviews with 3 groups of interviewees: organizations in the community, community members, and members of organizations outside the community, totaling 26 persons. The obtained data were analyzed in a descriptive method.


            From the study, it is found as follows: 1) The roles and responsibilities of community affecting the development process of the creative community in Thai society have an impact on the change of the basic community setting. People in the community must have awareness of their roles and responsibilities as part of community development. The development of a creative community requires the use of existing social capital in the community, such as cultural identity, roles and responsibilities, the participation of community members, natural and economic resources, technology information, and green community measures. 2) From investigating the enhancement of participation in the management of creative community development process in Thai society, it is found that community members of Don Kha Subdistrict, U Thong District, Suphan Buri Province and Phai Khwang Subdistrict, Mueang Suphan Buri District, Suphanburi Province have developed a participatory process model based on their roles and responsibilities to serve as the guidelines for the development of creative community in Thai society. 3) The guidelines for creative community development process in Thai society include the following processes: organizations in the community, community members, and members of organizations outside the community should carry out activities based on the participatory concept, which begins with thinking, planning, implementing, taking responsibility, evaluating, building a framework for implementation, defining roles and responsibilities, and cooperating. All of which serves as the standard guidelines for the development of creative community in Thai society.
