A Study of Factors of Performance Skill of Industrial Vocational Certificate Internship Students for the Enterprise

Abstract

The purpose of this research article was to synthesize and validate the appropriateness of factors and indicators of performance skill of industrial vocational certificate internship students for the enterprise. This research used mixed method research by analyzing and synthesizing data from documents, and validating the appropriateness of factors and indicators by seven experts, including four entrepreneurs and three lecturers of educational institutions under the Office of the Vocational Education Commission, Ministry of Education, with knowledge, expertise, and experience on vocational teaching along with the enterprise not less than five years. The instrument used in this research was five levels of rating scale of appropriateness of factors validation questionnaire.


The result of study found that the factors of performance skill of industrial vocational certificate internship students for the enterprise, have four factors including 1) safety skills, consists of ability to read, perform and choose the equipment according to safety standards; ability to provide first aid; ability to organize the workplace appropriately; and ability to estimate the readiness of health before starting work, has the overall appropriateness in high level. 2) operational skill, consists of ability to use the tools and equipment correctly, ability to disassemble and assemble the workpiece according to the procedures; ability to verify the completeness and correctness of the work; and ability to hand over the job and perform the tools and work site maintenance, has the overall appropriateness in the highest level. 3) critical thinking skill, consists of ability to gather the problems and problem causes of operation; ability to create alternative problem solutions; ability to make the right decisions with the correct principles; and ability to offer reasonable opinions; ability to integrate knowledge and skills, has the overall appropriateness in high level. 4) computer and information technology application skill, consists of ability to use package software; ability to retrieve for information, knowledge and communicate via the internet system; ability to store and transmit the vocational data on computer; and ability to propose work presentation on computer.
