Abstract

               This article was a part of research entitled ‘An Analytical Study of Buddha’s Dhamma for Self-Reliance of Organic Groups, Baan Phan Sao, Bangrakam Distric, Phitsanulok Province. The research found that the concept of self – reliance based on the Buddhist doctrines focus on the individual’s wisdom or indigenous wisdom as the social capital for community development. The doctrine is the core of all mental development and resolution. The doctrine of self-reliance is the self-moderation in living, eating sharing and supporting each other. The self-reliance model is cost reduction equal to profit. That is to say, they reduced the cost of chemical fertilizers, chemicals and energy which reduces household expenditures. People reduce to consume resources to make the profit for sustainable living. Self-reliance on the economy is to reduce unnecessary expenses. It is equal to increasing the revenues for themselves and the community. Regarding the social aspect, it enhances the quality of life for themselves and the community for a better environment. The self – reliance based on the Buddhist doctrines of the organic agriculture of Baan Pan Sao, it is divided into 3 steps as before taking action, take action and after action. The process of self-reliance is based on the principle of action (Kamma) and its fruition which focus on people to be self-reliant and selfcorrected by taking action. In addition, Nàthakaraõa-dhamma or virtues which make for protection can be used to strengthen self-reliance.
