Abstract

The accounting service market in Phuket Province is highly competitive, providing clients with relatively strong bargaining power. Customers tend to switch accounting service providers frequently, while accounting firms aim to retain clients over the long term by fostering customer loyalty. This study aimed to (1) examine the service marketing mix factors influencing customer loyalty toward accounting firms in Phuket Province, (2) investigate the effect of customer satisfaction on customer loyalty, and (3) compare customer loyalty across different business-related characteristics. The sample consisted of 386 clients who had previously used accounting firm services. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire and analyzed using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, multiple regression analysis, t-test, and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). The results revealed that (1) physical evidence, service process, and people—key elements of the service marketing mix—had a positive influence on customer loyalty, whereas promotion exerted a negative effect. In addition, (2) customer satisfaction was found to have a positive and significant impact on customer loyalty. (3) The findings also indicated that customers with different business types and income levels exhibited significantly different levels of loyalty toward accounting firms. The study recommends that accounting firms in Phuket Province prioritize the development of service marketing mix strategies by focusing first on physical evidence, followed by service processes and personnel capability. Enhancing customer satisfaction is also essential for sustaining long-term customer loyalty. Additionally, accounting firms should consider the business model and monthly income of their clients when developing customer retention strategies. The research findings extend the understanding of the roles of the service marketing mix and customer satisfaction in fostering customer loyalty within the context of professional service businesses operating in highly competitive tourism destinations.
