The objectives of this research were : 1) to study guidelines for promoting and strengthening the occupation of Black Soldier Fly (BSF) farming. 2) to study occupational group formation through the Black Soldier Fly rearing system. This research employed a mixed-methods research design that combining quantitative research and qualitative research. The quantitative sample consisted of 26 participants, with data analyzed using percentage, mean ( ), and standard deviation (S.D.). The qualitative component involved purposive interviews with five key informants and training processes to promote Black Soldier Fly farming; interview data were analyzed using content analysis.
The research findings revealed the following : 1) To study guidelines for promoting and strengthening Black Soldier Fly (BSF) farming: Regarding the operational conditions of the occupational group (n=26). It was found that overall operations were at a high level. The highest-rated aspects were the establishment of community enterprises ( = 4.52, S.D.= 0.38) and providing opportunities for public participation (
= 4.31, S.D.=1.05). Group members believed that establishing community enterprises leads to greater organizational strength. 2) To study guidelines for Black Soldier Fly rearing: Analysis of responses from 26 participants showed that most factors were at a high level. The highest-rated aspects included the potential of Black Soldier Fly as an interesting commercial product (
= 4.25, S.D.=1.02 ), its ability to generate income for the group (
= 4.10, S.D.=1.05), and its role in reducing environmental problems (
= 4.05, S.D.=1.15). Respondents viewed Black Soldier Fly as a promising economic product for the future, particularly for reducing animal feed costs and organic waste disposal
Guidelines for promoting Black Soldier Fly (BSF) farming at the Phuttha Kaset Learning Center, Khok Nong Na, Ban Nong E-Dam, Krapo Sub-district, Tha Tum District, Surin Province, lead to stable and sustainable community economic development, income distribution, and secure local occupations. However, interviews revealed several concerns among members : 1) Lack of knowledge: many members lack modern expertise in production technology and processing; 2) Inadequate planning : a lack of systematic rearing plans or production schedules aligned with market demand; 3) Odor issues: excessive moisture in fermenting food waste can cause foul odors, bothering farmers and neighbors; and 4) Pests: common problems include ants, rats, and birds preying on larvae and eggs. It is recommended that rearing be conducted in closed systems or with appropriate preventive measures, such as placing rearing containers in water-filled basins to deter ants or using mesh screens to cover the facility.
