A Model for Developing Creative Sustainable Tourism : A Case Study of Creating Fashion Lifestyle Products From Bamboo Textile Innovation

Abstract

          From tourism of cultural heritage to the development of sustainable fashion from Bamboo Fiber innovation for International Trade Project” aim is to search for a guideline to develop a sustainable creative tourism by developing innovation in bamboo fiber to the creation of fashion lifestyle products from cultural capital. The project also aims to transfer the knowledge of fashion lifestyle design to the local community to increase the potential of the local community products to meet international standards. Then, this method will become a guideline in creation of fashion lifestyle product for international trade.

          This research uses a hybrid approach, including qualitative research methods, fashion product development innovation, and applied art design ethnography, aiming to share knowledge to the community. There are five processes in this research. First, previous research and related papers about innovations in bamboo fiber are collected. Secondly, there is the market and consumer field research in Nan province. The third is the innovation of bamboo fiber incorporating with fashion lifestyle product design concept.  Then, fashion design data are collected through the spring and summer 2021 fashion trend analysis. Lastly, the fashion lifestyle collection is designed according to the developed guideline.

          The study found 4 significant results. First, sustainable creative tourism includes 4 elements: environment, community, economy, and fashion lifestyle brand creation. Second, according to this research, the guideline for brand creation and product design is to create a fashion lifestyle brand identity with a sustainable concept.  Design guideline includes minimalist design concept, for casual occasion. Fashion trends that are suitable for target consumers, The storytelling is based on sustainable fashion, timeless style. The clothing structure, and details of minimalist fashion styles are based on tailoring and the use of natural textiles.
