Abstract

The thesis of the inheritance of Pi Phat orchestra in Muang District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province aimed to (1) study the condition and role of Pi Phat orchestra in Muang District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province (2) study the process of inheriting Pi Phat orchestra in Muang District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province by using qualitative research and anthropology methods, searching for information from documents and interviewing from the leader of Pi Phat, and observing the teaching of Pi Phat, Muang district Nakhon Ratchasima Province.

             1.The condition and role of the Pi Phat in Muang District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province there are four existing and inherited Pi Phat with relatively few musicians by classification according to the function of the play can be 4 groups: the machine group, the xylophone group, the piper group, the leather group and the rhythmic group by the xylophone and piper group are the smallest number of musicians. The instruments in the band are Thai Pi Phat and Mon Pi Phat instruments with emphasis on Mon Pi Phat musical instruments to meet the values of the people in society by classification according to function and style of playing can be 3 types: Melody, Rhythmic instruments and a rhythmic composite instrument. The role of Pi Phat society in Muang District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province have still two roles in society, namely (1) rituals, the popular use of the Mon Pi Phat plays in funeral rituals. It was also found that Mon Pi Phat was used in other events as a substitute for Thai Pi Phat (2) Performances are found mostly in Thai traditional dramatic performance and most pantomime and dances were performed in the form of a fire show.

  1. Inheritance of the Pi Phat band in Muang District Nakhon Ratchasima Province There are 4 characteristics of the leader's inheritance: Inherited from ancestors, Local musicians, Local musicians and a back-door teacher. The 4 characteristics of inheritance were the formation of a new faculty. Knowledge transfer of Pi Phat in Muang District, Nakhon Ratchasima has 3 systems: family, music discipleship and the educational system in institutions which the participants have to go through a ritual of depositing themselves as a student called " Yok-kru " The house, school and concert were used as educational places. Notes are used as media and bring technology to assist in teaching such as audio recording, animation and teaching through social media. The teaching and learning process includes both traditional and applied teaching. It is popular to use the oral tradition method with the selection of the Large Knog circle as the first instrument in the practice of Thai music based on the Large Knog circle melody as the main melody of the song. The teacher shows the melody and the students follow it using a repetition process to achieve the skill.
