An Assessment of Student Learning After a Merging of Small Schools Together

This research is qualitative. The object researches. 1)To study the teaching and learning conditions of schools that have mergers in Chomphra District. 2) To study student self-development in schools that are merged according to the system theory framework. 3)To study the evaluation of student learning with mergers in Chomphra District, Surin province. The research collect data from key informant are 4 persons in the merged school, parents and 30 students, 8 community representatives and collect data from documents and field data from non-participant observation, interview, group discussions and analyze data by separating issues based on content boundaries and using triangular data verification methods.
The results of the study showed that 1) the management of schools with mergers before mergers and acquisitions is different from after mergers. 2) The student’s self-development found that the input factors Students at the Ban Khok Phet Non Champa School and the Ban Nong Khwao School before merging with low academic achievement. There are the students less than 40 students. The most of them are poor and they stay with grandparents. They have moderate to low intelligence levels. The teachers and the directors have a lot of work load. The post-merger management process has the standard of teaching and learning quality. The output was found the number of students per room before the merger was greater than after the merger because of graduation and moved to new school. They receive attention from teachers with knowledge and experience. The resulting in children having development in reading think, analyze and write better and they can behave according to desirable characteristics as well. The results factors found that teachers, students and parents were very satisfied. Some of parents aren’t satisfied because they have more expenses and the effect found that the schools have O-NET test before merging, the overall score is less than after the merger. 3) The assessment of student learning with mergers in Chom Phra district Surin province found that the kindergarten students have a level of learning through the criteria and the results of learning assessment in basic courses at the elementary level found that before merging, there is more achievement than after studying because the learning system is more than standard. The results of evaluating desirable characteristics for both schools through criteria. The evaluation results of reading, thinking, analyzing and writing revealed that the Khok Phet Non Champa School before merging with less than after the merger while, before merging the Ban Nong Khwao School with a score less than after the merger while the Ban Nong Khwao School, before merging, has a score equal to after the merger and the assessment results of the learner development activity is through the criteria.
