New Methods for Online Music Teaching in the New Normal Era

Abstract

The systematic change from a traditional classroom to an online mode is arguably an educational breakthrough, by which the teacher utilises contemporary ideas to benefit an educational achievement in a wider social context. This academic article aims to examine and discuss new teaching methods for online music teaching in the new normal era. I employed a systematic literature review from books, articles and other scholarly works into data-based synthesis to summarise novel methods of teaching music. The result shows that the COVID-19 pandemic, having impaired traditional a face-to-face instruction, forced music instructors to rely solely on distance learning. In the post-covid-19 era, a number of online teaching methods involving a blended-learning model are still in use. While the availability of media technology is assuredly conducive to an online learning environment, the teacher and students concertedly built online experience-led knowledge and skills, shifting learning activities away from the traditional classroom.
