The Use of E-Commerce to increase efficiency in the management of Small and Medium Enterprises in Thailand
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study aims to examine (1) the models and management approaches of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Thailand, (2) the forms and characteristics of electronic commerce (e-commerce), and (3) the adoption of e-commerce to enhance the management efficiency of SMEs in Thailand. A mixed-methods research approach was employed, with data collected from 15 SME entrepreneurs across the country.
The findings corresponding to Objective 1 revealed that, regarding organizational management practices, the highest-rated aspect was that organizational executives effectively monitored and controlled operations through a clear and comprehensive performance evaluation system ( = 4.43, SD = 0.74). This was followed by the executives’ leadership capabilities (
= 4.40, SD = 0.76). The lowest-rated aspect was the organization's strategic planning in response to emerging business trends (
= 4.30, SD = 0.76). The findings for Objective 2 indicated that Innovation Adoption (IA) comprised five behavioral indicators. The results indicated that organizations demonstrated a positive attitude toward adopting innovations to achieve organizational success, recognized the ease of use of new innovations, and perceived the benefits of implementing new innovations in organizational operations. The findings for Objective 3 demonstrated that E-Commerce Utilization (EC) comprised four behavioral indicators. The results showed that organizations adopted multiple electronic payment methods through e-commerce platforms, provided customer services via e-commerce systems, and implemented fully integrated electronic ordering and delivery processes. These findings indicate that organizations have extensively adopted e-commerce technologies to improve operational efficiency and enhance customer service.
