Abstract

The research titled “Development of a Driving Model for the Sunday Buddhist Study Centers in Nakhon Pathom Province” had three objectives: (1) to develop a model for driving the Sunday Buddhist Study Centers, (2) to establish a collaborative mechanism for implementation, and (3) to propose a model that can be adapted for use in other areas. A mixed methods research design was employed, combining qualitative research through in-depth interviews and focus group discussions with 33 key informants (monks and laypersons), and quantitative research through pre- and post-activity assessments of 30 participants using activity assessment tools and basic statistical analysis.

The findings revealed that: (1) the developed activities enhanced learners in accordance with the “Four Dimensions of Buddhist Integration”—physical, moral, emotional, and intellectual—through self-directed learning, moral discipline, emotional regulation, and ethical analytical thinking; (2) the collaborative mechanism comprised four aspects: integrated activity organization, awareness building, development of core teachers, and the formulation of moral identity, leading to participation from administrators, committees, teachers, and learners, and promoting ethical learning and life skills based on Buddhist principles; and (3) the developed driving model, called the “SPICE Model,” proved effective in enhancing moral quality of life. Post-activity assessments showed a statistically significant improvement (p < .05), indicating its suitability for systematic application in other Sunday Buddhist Study Centers.
