Activities Development to Management of Volunteer Skills for Elderly in, Mueang District, Chiang Rai Province

Abstract

This research has the following objectives: 1) study the management of volunteer skills among the elderly in Mueang District, Chiang Rai Province, 2) enhance the network of elderly activities in managing volunteer skills in Mueang District, Chiang Rai Province, and 3) present and adapt a model for developing volunteer skill management activities for the elderly in Mueang District, Chiang Rai Province. The research team employed a mixed methodology approach, incorporating documentary research, Qualitative research was also conducted through in-depth interviews with 15 elderly participants involved in volunteer skills management, along with focus group discussions with 9 individuals, and action research by collecting data from 15 elderly participants.


The research findings revealed that: 1)The study on managing volunteer skills among the elderly in Mueang District, Chiang Rai Province, suggests that the management of volunteer skills serves as a starting point for establishing a "third age university," 2) The enhancement of the network of activities for the elderly in managing volunteer skills revealed that providing opportunities for the elderly to exchange experiences in imparting knowledge to younger generations is essential, whether through activities that promote mental well-being or boost self-confidence. 3) The presentation and adaptation of a model to develop activities for managing volunteer skills among the elderly in Mueang District, Chiang Rai Province, showed that the 15 participants' pre-activity scores averaged 3.07 with a standard deviation of 0.147, and post-activity scores averaged 4.26 with a standard deviation of 0.330, indicating a significant difference.
