Abstract

This Article aimed to study (1) Analyze the competencies of academic staff that influence the performance of Rajabhat Universities in the Central Region. (2)Propose strategies for developing the competencies of academic staff at Rajabhat Universities in the Central Region. The study employed a mixed-methods research design, integrating the concepts of competencies and organizational performance as the research framework. The study area consisted of 14 Rajabhat Universities in the Central Region. Quantitative data were collected using questionnaires administered to a sample of 400 academic staff members, selected through simple random sampling. Qualitative data were obtained through in-depth interviews with 17 key informants, comprising experts in the development of academic staff competencies, selected through purposive sampling. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis, while qualitative data were analyzed using content analysis.
The research findings indicate that the five dimensions of academic staff competencies collectively explain 51.5% of the variance in the performance of Rajabhat Universities in the Central Region. Among these, achievement orientation was found to have a statistically significant impact on university performance at the .01 level, while teamwork and professional expertise showed statistically significant effects at the .05 level. From the research results, 3 approaches can be presented for developing the competence of academic personnel, consisting of 1) a group of approaches for creating a cooperation network for personnel development, 2) an approach for raising the level of development of the competence of academic personnel to support changes and drive the university's mission, 3) an approach for developing and continuously improving the university's operational plan.
