Executive Buddhist Leadership Development for Academy Change in Kanchanaburi Province

Abstract

This article aims to 1) study the relationship between Buddhist leadership development of administrators and change creation in educational institutions in Kanchanaburi Province, 2) find the mechanism for Buddhist leadership development of administrators that affects change in educational institutions in Kanchanaburi Province, and 3) develop educational institution administrators using Buddhist innovation as a base for changes in both body and mind. The research design is qualitative, using the concept of Buddhist leadership as a research framework. The research area is secondary educational institutions in the Kanchanaburi Secondary Education Area. The key informants are
17 educational institution administrators, monks/Buddhist scholars, using a purposive selection method. The research instrument is a structured in-depth interview to study “Buddhist leadership development of administrators who create change in educational institutions in Kanchanaburi Province.” The interview form is divided into 2 types: 1) general information of key informants and 2) interview questions. Data analysis was performed using the qualitative research data analysis method. The data were analyzed for content and data return. The results of the research were summarized as follows:


  1. Mechanism for developing leadership of educational administrators It is a process of systematically enhancing leadership and management capabilities, consisting of 1) Vision development, 2) Communication skills development, 3) Data usage and analysis, 4) Creating a good working atmosphere, 5) Buddhist leadership development, 6) Self-development and lifelong learning, 7) Building and promoting teamwork, 8) Change management.

  2. Promoting the development of Buddhist leadership, consisting of mindfulness and meditation training for calmness and good decision-making, developing listening skills for communication, using analytical tools based on Dhamma principles for appropriate decision-making, creating morality enhancement projects to create a good culture in the organization, using technology for convenient learning and development, creating networks and support groups for exchanging knowledge and inspiration, organizing practical training in skills training, and evaluating and monitoring results for continuous improvement to create leaders with virtue and who can manage the organization.

  3. Mechanisms and promotion of Buddhist leadership to create change towards creating a Buddhist organization, a good and happy school by applying Buddhist principles to school administration and development to create a friendly learning environment that promotes happiness for both students and school personnel.
