The Strategies for School Administration in the Era of New Normal

Abstract

This study on strategies for school management in the new normal explores the approaches and methods that educational institutions adopt to adapt to global changes, such as the COVID-19 pandemic and advancements in information technology. The aim is to analyze effective strategies for managing schools within this new context, focusing on fostering flexibility in teaching and learning, engaging stakeholders, and developing personnel skills. The research aims to identify the management strategies relevant to the new normal through qualitative and quantitative methods, utilizing interviews and surveys from administrators, teachers, and parents. The findings indicate that the use of technology in teaching, fostering community collaboration, and developing personnel are critical strategies for promoting effective school management in this era. Additionally, crisis management and innovation are key factors influencing operational success. This research employs a future-oriented approach using the EDFR research methodology. Data collection tools included unstructured interviews and questionnaires, with information gathered from 21 experts selected through a criterion-based sampling technique. Statistical analysis involved median, mode, interquartile range, and content analysis.
The results reveal that the strategies for school management in the new normal consist of seven strategies and 47 specific areas: 1) personnel development (9 areas), 2) future change management (9 areas), 3) ICT management (6 areas), 4) academic strategies, curriculum, teaching, and learning (8 areas), 5) financial and budget strategies (5 areas), 6) new normal policy strategies (6 areas), and 7) general management strategies (4 areas). These strategies can serve as a guideline for developing school management approaches that align with societal needs and technological changes, aiming to enhance education quality and prepare for an uncertain future.
