An analytical study of musical literature on the prosperity of Ayodhya

Abstract

Musical literature is a cultural heritage that connects stories of cultural prosperity with the passage of time in each era. It reflects the flourishing period of the Ayutthaya Kingdom. This research aims to study the musical literature of the Ayutthaya period that remains popular today. It also analyzes the musical structure, sound system, and composition techniques of these songs.

Beyond inspiration, the study emphasizes the knowledge that contributed to the success of these musical works, which played significant roles in society, culture, traditions, and rituals throughout different eras. Understanding this knowledge is essential for developing creative works through techniques, methods, or integrating innovative musical concepts. Such works must be grounded in their foundational knowledge to achieve their intended objectives and communicate the meaning behind their creation—expressed through elements such as subject matter, tonal expression, linguistic style, architecture, sculpture, and important local sites. These elements collectively guide the creation and arrangement of musical compositions, requiring a holistic and integrated approach.
