Mae-Phoe-Sop: Mythology, Belief and Rituals in the Changing Way of Life of Phetchaburi Farmers

Abstract
The goddess Pra-Mae-Phoe-Sop takes care of rice. There are mythology, belief, and rituals about Pra-Mae-Phoe-Sop. According to the mythology, the goddess went to help the human beings on the earth. Because of their ingratitude, she escaped to a forest. A belief about getting good crops from farming involves Pra-Mar-Phoe-Sop’s guardian spirit (auspicious occasion for farming), and the rituals that the farmers perform for richness. The changes of Phethchaburi farmers’ way of lives influence on a mythology cognition, belief, and rituals nowadays. The ritual is an individual belief that is not a community one as the past. It is also adjusted in order to meet an individualized trade at the present time.
