EMPOWERMENT OF SUB-DISTRICT AND VILLAGE HEADMEN OF PHRANAKHON SI AYUTTHAYA PROVINCE

Abstract

This research aims to: 1) study empowerment levels of sub-district and village headmen of Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya Province; and 2) compare empowerment effects on them classified by their personal factors. The subjects are 315 sub-district and village headmen of Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya Province. The research instrument used is a questionnaire. The statistical tools used for data analysis are frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, F-test, and LSD with the significant level at .05. The results indicate that: 1) as a whole, the empowerment of sub-district and village headmen of Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya Province is at a high level, ranked from highest to lowest as follows: autonomy, partnership, rights protection, self-conception, democratic conception and participation culture, self-esteem, independence, and consciousness raising; and 2) differences in gender, education, and job position do not affect the empowerment levels of the sub-district and village headmen of Phranakhon Si Ayutthaya Province while differences in age and work experience affect their empowerment levels with the statistical significance at .05.
