Book Review: The Portrayal of the Battle of Ayutthaya in Burmese Literature
Main Article Content
Abstract
This book review is the historiography study of Soe Thuzar Myint discussing the Second Ayutthaya War by using evidence from the archives of Yodayar Naing Mawgun. The contribution of Sothu Sarmin's proposal is the revival of the description of Ayutthaya's history in many ways going far from the conflicts in the current history making Burma as the enemy of the nation. In addition, it reflects the use of new archives in response to explanations of the existing cities described by mainstream historians. The traditional study uses evidence from the royal chronicles of Ayutthaya resulting in a discourse depicting Burma as the nation’s enemy destroying Ayutthaya. The proposal in the book attempts to point out the strategies of war and war of the ancient state, which is to increase the manpower of the Burma Army before coming to Ayutthaya. The author of the article focuses on the prejudice and the process of using text from the primary source to study carefully.
