Guidelines for Quality Development at the Program Level under AUN-QA Criteria of the Faculty of Liberal Arts, Prince of Songkla University

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to 1) study the assessment result at the program level and 2) prioritize the needs for quality development including proposing quality development approaches. Data were collected from Internal Quality Assessment reports at the program level in the Academic Year 2021 of nine programs under AUN-QA. The data were analyzed by using means and content analysis. The study revealed that the lowest and highest scores of the sum of the average scores of all criteria of every program were 3.71-3.88. The comparison between quality and the level of the needs for quality development according to the criteria showed that the sum of every program’s average scores was in the range of 3.00 referring to insufficient program quality. However, with slight improvement, it could become sufficient. When comparing between the sum of the average scores and the faculty’s action plan requirement requiring every program to have the sum of the average scores of all criteria at 4.00, it was found that each program did not achieve the goal. For the priority analysis result of the needs for quality development, AUN 8 Output and Outcomes was the first priority. When analyzing the points to be developed as suggested by the Quality Assurance Committee to determine quality development’s guidelines, AUN 8 counterparts with higher achievements should be specified for developing, benchmarking both the result and the process, and adopting the benchmarking result to develop the programs. This research result offered approaches to create the program quality development plan.
